A new 32-storey mixed-use development has been proposed near the future Fairbank LRT station in Toronto. This project is set to include both residential and commercial spaces, taking advantage of the transit-oriented location. Located at 1760 and 1764 Eglinton Avenue West, the development is positioned to benefit from the upcoming Eglinton Crosstown LRT, expected to increase accessibility and growth in the area.
The proposal includes 341 residential units along with retail spaces on the ground level. The residential units will be a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, providing options for different types of households. The design also features amenities for residents, such as outdoor terraces, which will help create a community-friendly environment.
In addition to its residential offerings, the building aims to contribute to the commercial vitality of the neighbourhood by providing space for local businesses. This focus on a mixed-use structure aligns with Toronto’s push for more developments that combine residential, retail, and transit access, creating convenient, walkable communities.
As Toronto continues to deal with a housing shortage, developments like this are seen as important steps toward increasing housing supply. With its proximity to a major transit line and a mix of residential and commercial features, the proposed development near the Fairbank LRT station could become a key project in the city’s urban growth strategy.
